Proceedings of SIL appear triennially as the Verhandlungen Internationale Vereinigung für theoretische und angewandte Limnologie.
Irregular Communications were initiated in 1953 as the Mitteilungen Internationale Vereinigung für theoretische und angewandte Limnologie and are concerned with methodology and proceedings of symposia associated with SIL. These Communications are published as finances of SIL permit. Approximately one volume is issued per triennium.
The official currency of SIL is in Swiss Francs. Exchange rates are determined as of 1 November of the year preceding the membership calendar year.
PAST PUBLICATIONS of the International Association of Theoretical and Applied Limnology are available to new members by payment of retroactive membership fees. This payment of prior dues (at the current annual rate) is limited to payment of dues for three (3) or four (4) years preceding the current year. Payment must be made to the General Secretary-Treasurer or National Representatives at the rates indicated for regular members and institutional members.
2001 2002 2003 28th Proceedings* and Communications** 2004 *Proceedings of the 28th Congress held in Melbourne, Australia 2001 (Proceedings 28) and **Communications of the triennium, if finances permit, are distributed to members that have paid dues for the entire triennium (see Publications below).
Nearly all earlier publications may be purchased from our publisher E. Schweizerbart'sche Verlagsbuchhandlung, Johannesstrasse 3A, 7000 Stuttgart 1, Federal Republic of Germany at a discount (25%) to members. Volumes 1,2,3 and 13 of the Verhandlungen have been reprinted by Swets & Zeitlinger N.V., Keizersgracht 471 and 487, Amsterdam.
PLEASE NOTE: The Proceedings of a congress, now in large volumes of over 3,500 pages, appear approximately 18 months from the time of the meetings for the normal sequence of completion (editorial processing, typesetting, figure processing, proofing by authors, additional editorial proofing, collection of excess page charges, printing, collation, binding, and distribution by surface mail from Germany).

USAPUBLICATIONS of the International Association of Theoretical and Applied Limnology are triennial. Previous regulations (prior to 1983) were: payment in a year in which a congress is held and the subsequent year entitles members to the Proceedings (Verhandlungen). Payment in the third year of the triennium entitles members to the Communications (Mitteilungen). After 1983, members must be in good standing for all three years of a triennium in order to receive SIL publications.
